Q: Have you ever seen an inappropriate fundraising event?
Such as/Example… a fund raising event with VERY “Adult” themes and games to raise money for finding a cure to a disease, ending animal abuse, etc.
The most inappropriate fundraiser I went to was one raising money for cancer research in 1997, it did indeed have lots of drinking and some nudity. and some very “Adult” items at the silent auction. I that that was inappropriate.
A: yes. a barack obama fundraising event. crazy liberals that want to destroy america are very inappropriate
Q: Why would a college student want to volunteer for an overnight fundraiser event for AmericanCancerSociety?
Relay for Life is an overnight team fundraising event to cure cancer and provided services to cancer patients. Some college students in our area said “there was nothing in it for them”. Do you have any suggestions of what would make a college student interested in participating in such an event?
A: Obviously those who make those comments are self absorbed beyond all redemption…well almost all redemption. Remind them that cancer could strike them or someone they love and perhaps they might rethink their position? Or, you could offer a large pizza to the biggest fund raiser? Pizza was always a winner when I went to school!
Q: Hosting a Fundraising Event – in New York State?
The event is allowing a portion of the proceeds to be donated the Breast Cancer Research.
We need to know what legal issues may arise when planning this event in New York State.
The event itself involves, private vendors renting booth areas. They collect the money directly and then disburse the portions of the proceeds to the coordinator of the event to give to the charity.
Is there any insurance, lucenses, permits, or restrictions we should know about.
Any links or governmental webpages pertaining to fundraisers would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
A: I would think it would depend on which county you live in and whether the fundraiser is tax-exempt or not. What exactly are you doing? Setting up an area to just private vendors? If any of them are food vendors, you need the health dept to approve. Who is the coordinator, a person or organization and how is the money going to be given the the AMC? You would need to provide taxable donation receipts to the vendors, so not sure if there is a form for that or not. Pampered Chef does fundraisers where the organization gets 15% of the sales. Q: Not “Political”, but a question that affects almost everyone you know.?
With the billions upon billions of dollars pumped into “Cancer Research” (year after year) – by the; ‘Walks for’, ‘Runs for’ and other such cancer fundraising events each year along with government funding, how much incentive is their truly – to actually look for a cure, let alone find one? (Other than: “Even Doctors die from cancer.” I know.)
I’m asking “here” because some of the people here in Y!A/Politics seem to know everything and THIS is a question that desperately needs an answer.
A: I wonder about our “billions upon billions” as I have had many family members die of cancer…I hesitate to even list them or talk about them here as the vultures here are ruthless…I will tell you this. After nursing a few people to their deaths, and during that time, I would, and did welcome anything that would help .
Only people who have never done this thing would even question it. I don’t care who you are, but now that my family members are dead, I would sooooo be a cheerleader for your parent/sibling etc. so that they could live.
Any other answer here is BS. I’m sorry but it is what it is.
Q: Looking for a right/left game for breast cancer awareness.?
I am hosting a fundraising event for Breast Cancer Awareness and will have center pieces to give away and want to do a Right/Left Game with a story about Breast cancer awareness. Help me find one?
A: You might want to consider running a charity race night the sites below have some free useful advice.

Q: Breast Cancer Awareness Slogans?
I need some cute ideas for Breast Cancer Awareness Slogans. I’m doing several fundraising events for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer and I need to make tons of signs.
Save The Boobies
Save The Ta-Tas
Save Second Base
Think Pink
Any other ideas???
Thanks!
And…Thank you to the person who completely disrespected me by not even coming close to answering my question. Don’t use this as an opportunity to rant please. I’m asking an honest question – because I want honest help.
Thank you to those who are helping.
A: Save a Hoot
Q: Jimmy Fund Cancer fundraising?
I want to start a fuindraiser, but I ned a basic idea of costs.
My high school has 1800 students, and my town has 3000 students in elementary school approximately, maybe more. I plan on making a carnival/Mayfair fundraiser with carnival rides and such, and maybe some auctions, raffles, sponsorships from local shops, entertainment, food, and maybe a guest appearance from Boston red Sox players/managers.
How many people do you think will be there?
How much will this event cost?
Why do I feel like this event will attract a lot of people and a lot of money? Can I be confident?
My town probably has 5000 students, and a ton of staff and other residents. I plan on visiting nearby towns for support and nearby schools (private and public).
A: You can never be confident. For example, one rainy day could ruin your entire plan. It sounds like a small turnout for what it’s going to cost you for renting carnival rides, entertainment, guest appearances, etc. Unless you can get a lot of sponsors to write off costs or a lot of these services donated, you will do a lot of work and either end up in the hole or not make enough to make it worth the effort.
With any fund raising activity you have to weigh whether it is worth going to all the work to pull this together (your time and other volunteers) vs. if you just asked donors for money for your cause. Direct fund raising (aka “The Ask”) frequently yields more than fund raising from events like this. And if you have never put anything together like this before, what you are describing is going to require a huge effort and lots of volunteers.
Q: Have you got a suggestions for a sport related charity fundraising event?
Hi everyone, I’m looking to raise money for cancer research through a fundraising event next summer. I’m in my early 20’s and very active. I would like raise money doing something which is unique and captures the imagination of potential contributors/ sponsors.
There is a timeframe of 6 months (full time) to train/ carry this out; my budget will allow me to travel to multiple locations if desired.
Running, cycling and swimming are my forte but I’m up for anything exciting.
I will answer any questions,
Best wishes,
Peter
A: I have some ideas that I found, but not all of them are sports related, I do hope they help.
1. Sporting events or tournaments
Plan a fun run or golf, volleyball, or other sports-related tournament. Charge an entry fee and search for sponsors for T-shirts or other free gifts. Contact local businesses, sporting goods stores, running clubs, or sports teams for advice and sponsorship. Your members can help to register participants, advertise the event, and help organize the event. This type of event can be very profitable and, if enough funds are raised, your society can donate a portion to a charitable cause.
2. Bury the wheelchair
Get a wheelchair and place it in a Plexiglas or clear plastic cube, with an open slot for donations. Place the chair in the student union or area that gets a lot of traffic and has good security. Ask people to throw in their donations and see how fast they can “Bury the Wheelchair with Charity”. Have an event where the cube will be officially opened and the money counted and have this publicized in the media so you get good press for your program.
3.Advertise
The key to a successful fundraising project is advertisement. People will not participate in your event or give money unless they know about your activity. Utilize your local community and university newspapers and radio and television stations. Posters, flyers, and cards at local stores and at street corners are also productive. Another good place to advertise your meetings is in local publications.
Charity Sporting Tournaments (baseball, basketball, volleyball, golf…) – Connect with the campus by providing a sporting tournament where you charge admission for participants. You could also work the concession stands for the event.
Final Basket/Shoot the Hoops Tournament – This is a great way to use your school’s sporting program to earn some money for your alternative break program. Individuals can pay an entrance fee to have some sort of shooting contest during the half or end of a game.
Running Events – Appeal to the local running enthusiasts on your campus and in your community to be a part of a sponsorship race for your program. A unique twist might have the finish line be into a campus sporting facility at the end or beginning of a game. It is always a motivator to have thousands of people screaming and yelling for you.
Q: Fundraising Event!??
Hey guys,
Im 15 and am organising a fashion show fundraising event for the Irish Cancer society!

Place (to hold the event)
A company to sponsor it

I know I’m leaving out other stuff so any ideas on other things like who ill need to contact? what ill need? what i have to decide on?
Oh and also when I’m holing audtions for the models what things will i put down on the application form (male and female models) waist size, bust size etc? that kinda stuff
It would be a great help thanks guys
x
A: First of all you MUST contact the company who will sponsor you. If you don’t get a sponsor you might have to fork out your own money to buy the models clothes….
So
How many models will there be or you’ll need?
How will you sell the tickets? via school via posters?
How much will the tickets cost?
How many people can the venue hold?
How much the lightings will cost? (If you have like disco lights sorta thing)
Who are you aiming the fashion show at? (Girls, Womens, Boys, Adults, Kids?)
What sorta theme will the fashion show be? (Summer clothes, Winter clothes?)
How much you are planning to spend/budget?
For the application
Name:
Gender:
Age:
Height:
Clothes size:
Foot size:
Year (in school):
Additional comment: (Have they had experience?)
Picture also attached*
Also you need to plan a time where you set up a stage and show how you’d like the models to be presented e.g when they should walk in and out and how they should walk etc….
Good Luck! Sounds major fun
Q: Lance Armstrong recently showed up in Vancouver, for the Tour of Courage event. Thousands showed up at Thunder
Lance Armstrong recently showed up in Vancouver, for the Tour of Courage event. Thousands showed up at Thunderbird Stadium to see and support the cancer fundraiser. What type of cancer was the event fundraising for?
A: blood cancer works for radio trivia
Q: Where are all the charity walks/runs listed?
I’m interested in finding a cancer fundraising walk/run this year in Northern California. You would think it would be easy to find, but not so. Does anyone know of a calendar of events or website that I can find all cancer walks/runs? Thanks!
A: when you search, try entering the city + walk + 2009 or something like bay area california + walk + 2009 or a variation on what you are looking for. That might help you.
Q: Can somebody please help me with Relay for Life fundraising?
OK…I don’t know what I got myself into. The school that I work at needed a team captain for our Relay For Life team; I volunteered to be the team captain. Out of 600 students, I would say about 100 will participate in this event. We need to raise a lot of money, but I don’t know how. I know the basic fundraising ideas (car wash, bake sale, etc). What I need to know is how do I get businesses to donate and support our team. When we go to talk to them is their a paper they need to fill out? Do we just ask for a donation to support our relay for life team? Does anyone know if at the Relay For Life event we can wear something that has a company logo on it for a business sponsorship? The theme is curing cancer coast to coast and our state is Pennsylvania, I was thinking maybe we can do liberty bells and on one side have our goal is to be cancer free, then on the other side have a business coupon or advertisement, then sell the liberty bells for $1-$2 each. Is that a good idea?
A: This is always a tough question. Depending on if the school will let you “gamble” we always had the best luck with the 50/50 drawings. Basically you can sell “tickets” for like a dollar each, and you make a time period that you will run your drawing, and when it’s over you draw a name (ticket) and that person gets half of the money in the pot and your team gets the rest. All it takes is for somebody to make tickets, pretty much effortless. (My school wouldn’t allow it though b/c they thought it was gambling…but at work we did one, and we made a bunch of money.) As for the business thing, good luck! We had to jump right on it! They usually don’t up and give you a donation. You have to “dig” for it. We always went in and told them why we do Relay. (ie, most of the people I work with, including myself, we have had a lot of friends/family die b/c of cancer) It was like a plea for money, but we told them the truth about our situations, and then they feel like you’re a decent source to give a donation to. But, if they do make a donation, make SURE to thank them! (Like at your “site” on Relay night put something on a banner/poster saying thank you to our sponsors, and take a picture of you and your team in front of the sign/poster and give it to them to show them your thanks. So, I hope this helps. The 50/50 thing goes over well with teenagers, they are always needing some extra cash, and like I said, it’s easy money for you!
Q: Relay For Life? American Cancer Society?
for those of you that do not know. relay for life is a fundraising event that raises money for the american cancer society. my team’s theme is london. what are some ideas on what we could sell in our tent booth, or ideas of how we should decorate it?? all ideas are appreciated.
please help!
thanks(:
A: you should sell tea and crumpets(or any other kind of baked good that goes with tea) and plus people are going to want the caffeine to keep them up walking all night. or you could sell it in the morning
Q: What is a good fundraising idea for a Relay for Life?
Its a 24 hour event. We are in charge of breast cancer. What can we sell at the relay for to raise more money?
A: American Eagle Fundraising may be your best solution. They work with your local newspaper. They customize your fundraiser if needed.
You earn $25 for a Gold Patron order / $15 For a Silver Patron Order
Example:
A group of 20 kids who sell 10 Gold Patron Subscriptions(customer cost $29.90) and 5 Silver Patron Subscriptions(customer cost $19.90) each.
Your group earns $6,500.
Each kid would win a Gift Card ($5 for each order) for $75 to any store your organization chooses plus one top fundraiser wins a Gift Card of $150 in addition to the first Gift Card.
If you are interested check out their website www.AmericanEagleFundraising.com
or email brandy@americaneaglefundraising.com
Q: What is a good price to charge for a car wash fundraiser?
I am walking in the Breast Cancer 3-Day in August and I need raise at least another $800. So a car wash is yet another choosen fundraising event. What is a fair price to charge? This is also going to help some of our local boy scouts earn more community service hours…
A: I’d go $7-8. Like the others said, you’ll probably get a lot of $10+ from people. The whole idea of charity car washes is to get people in & out as quickly as possible, so I wouldn’t bother offering extra services (wax, vac, etc.) as they’ll just make you able to handle fewer people.
I never pay for a car wash @ a station, but I often stop @ charity car washes. I don’t expect them to detail the car for me. It’s charity.
