Q: HELP! Breast Cancer? Red spot on my breast. Could it be cancer?
About 3 months ago I woke up with something that looked like a spider bite, and it bled for about 2 or 3 days and hurt to the touch. I guess you could say it “healed” because it stopped bleeding and it doesnt hurt or itch, but now it just looks like a bruise that wont go away its been there for about 3 months. Now I have heard of something called Inflammatory Breast Cancer, and I have read up on it and Its symptoms and I know they said it might look something like an insect bite or bruise that doesnt go away and when I read it I got a little scared, but I dont have the itching or enlargement of the breast, no inverted nipple, swelling or any other symptoms really. So can cancer still be a possibility? Does it manifest itself in different ways with different women? and Im only 20 years old.I went to urgent care – the doctor said ” It doesnt LOOK like cancer, and gave me some ointment to put on it. He said to put it on for 10 days and check back with him. Any help would be appriciated!
A: Don’t have a GYN Dr? I would see them ASAP, if not then I would go to a different Dr. at another urgent care or a regular Dr. There is no such thing as does not look like cancer. How the he** does he know or anyone know that it doesn’t look like cancer??? Sorry but, I know women who have died because of this. And there are the Dr.’s that say we’ll watch it for 6 mos. an you know what happens then don’t you? I don’t want to alarm you over this but, you need to know for sure. The GYN may have more experience with women’s issues and being 20 doesn’t make you immune to cancer or anything else that I know of besides old age. So, I would watch it, is the ointment helping? There is a spider that causes the flesh to die around the bite, brown recluse, I think it’s called. So, If I were you I would not stop unless the discoloration went away or I had another opinion about it by a GYN or a good MD who might have a mammogram done. They are expensive but October being breast cancer awareness month you might get a free exam or low cost mammogram. Call your local Health Department and ask if any free or low cost screenings are going on in your area and see what you can find out. Best of luck to youI
Q: Women, how do you feel about guys making fun of us and rubbing it in?
okay as women we all know that we have alot on plate the moment we are born:
we are pressured to have sex all the time
back in the day we were sold as sex slaves
we are viewed as nothing but sex toys, housewife, caretaker, birth-machine etc
there’s this idea that we are born to do whatever the men ask
we have our monthly cycles followed by alot of cramping (every month until you’re about 50 years old)
birth hurts like hell (our breast shrink, thighs expand, morning sickness, stretch marks followed 666 billions of other symptoms)
breast cancer
fear of getting raped
gotta be careful in walking at night
guys always run off when the girl is pregnant
i mean i feel like guys just have it easy and it really pisses me off when you have guys who like to tease you about it. has anybody ever been through this? i mean its just really hard being a woman in a world like this. my question is, what is your opinion?
dude who said i was bitter towards men? i’m not bitter i’m actually alittle angry at how women are viewed in society.
i’ve gotten alot of good answers, even some guys have proved my point. but you guys are still missing my point. i’m 22 years old. no i have never had a child and had a jerk run off. these are the things that i am seeing EVERYDAY!! okay? do you guys understand that? thats why i posted this question.
A: Not all of us guys are a$*holes you know. I am sensitive towards women and their feelings because they have it a bit harder than most men do.
Q: What are the odds that I have breast and/or cervical cancer?
I had 2 fibroid adenomas removed from my left breast in Feb of 2003 (1 at 6:00 & 1 behind nipple). Only a little more than a year after surgery I had a lump in the same 6:00 position and my nipple inverted again like before the surgery. I had a mamo & ultrasound and was told that they were inconclusive and I needed a biopsy. Not wanting to go through surgery for every lump I was going to get, I chickened out and neglected to go back to the dr. About 3mos ago, I started having pain in my left breast that went from my armpit to my nipple. I went back to the dr who ordered another mamo & us. Same results except that now I have lymph nodes in both breasts as well as an inconclusive solid mass. I NEED to schedule a biopsy and will. However, the gyno also gave me the bad news that my Pap came back abnormal with low-grade cell changes. I’m a 33 yr old pretty healthy woman – so what are the odds or chances that I have breast and/or cervical cancer? Any information on these symptoms, conditions, tests, diagnosis, procedures, etc would be greatly appreciated. I’m on pins and needles worrying because I’m the mother of 4 children. Please help.
A: I have just had surgery for breast cancer. PLEASE, please, I know you’re scared….PLease go get a biopsy. I caught it early enough to get help and now Have a future. It’s intimidating, frightening and you feel out of control. Here’s the answer. I promise it will empower you. If there is cancer then you will be armed for bear and you can fight. Fight for your kids and for yourself. ACS has so many answers. I did this and I was so deathly afraid, but at least if you know you can choose before you have no options. There is a very good chance you have a solid mass, period. My symptoms were a lump. No pain, no anything, I found a lump. I have no history in my family and I don’t smoke. I’m here, I’m fine and btw, I have kids, a husband, family and friends, plus I own my own successful business and have for many years. None of it matters if you aren’t there. I had a mammogram, 2 ultrasounds, and a biopsy after I found my lump, and then surgery 4 days ago. My insurance is not helping with anything but the hospital…..Oh well, I will worry about payment later. Go. Please?! Now since I’m not worried about me, I will be worried about you. Good luck, and feel free to email me if you need more shoving.
Q: What are the symptoms of various common cancers?
Could you list the basic symptoms of these cancers?
Stomach Cancer [most likely]
Breast Cancer
Ovarian Cancer
Liver Cancer
Colon Cancer
..and any other cancer common in women age 50+
I think my mother has cancer, and these are her symptoms:
-She goes to the restroom every 20 minutes
-Pain in lower abdomen, apparently (doctor said) caused by stress from her work (lawyer), but now has spread to her upper under-chest area…
-Always tired
-Easily stressed
She’s not sexually active anymore, if that makes any difference. Never used birth control or condoms.
Thanks. She’s going for a checkup next month, but I think it would be better if we all were ready for a possible diagnosis.
Evie, f*** u. The last thing I need when I ask a serious question is scam spam. Take your shit and go somewhere else, I’m not clicking on your virus-infected site.
What? another one?
Urine…she goes every 20 minutes, even less sometimes.
A: Sounds more like a urinary tract or kidney problem than anything else.
From your description you can cross breast cancer off the list, none of the symptoms you mention are any indication of breast cancer.
Q: ok question here. female 40 years of age, has history of breast cancer in my family as my aunt?
is almost dead because of breast cancer as she is now in a nursing home until she dies. My grandmother also had breast cancer and so did my mother. I am in early menopause now, as all the symptoms of hot flushes, sweating lack of sleep no periods, and a blood test to confirm it, anyway my right breast on the nipple is swollen and red. the other side is not. I did a self exam as I know these lumps can be hard to find sometimes but anyway I was lying down on my bed and did a self exam and found a pea size hard lump just above my nipple. this is the weekend here as I am in Australia so nothing is open now until monday. so I just want to know are these some signs of breast cancer? I have been getting very tired lately maybe because of the hot flushes at night and restlessness of Early menopause. but anyway is there any other signs I should be looking out for? what other signs are there to breast cancer? Is swelling, redness, and a lump a good indicator? the other breast is not red, or swollen. Like I said it is the nipple part that is, I do not want to say too much here because males get on here. so it is private. so women can you help me out here? no men please unless you are a doctor
DC you might be right it could be a faulse alarm or a diagnosis of early breast cancer, which it could be. no big deal there are treatments out there
lo_mcg no tiredness is not until the last stage. but swelling and tenderness can be a sign. when you say most lumps are not cancerous that is rubbish. it can go ether way, it can be benign or cancerious.
mari and josh ferbie thank you so much and God bless you. I hope you get through this. I will give you a thumbs up
ok lo mo why is my anti almost dead becasue of breast cancer? if you had told her the same thing most lumps are ok and she got it done and came back cancerous she probally would have slapped you. many patients are lead astray with people saying oh your ok when they aren’t. that is deception. and screw the statistics becasue everyone is different
lo mo reported you demon
A: Most breast lumps aren’t cancerous, but all should be checked out.
You first mentioned finding the lump some days ago; on Monday make an appointment to see your doctor.
Tiredness is not a breast cancer symptom.
Edit* Please check any reputable breast cancer information site to confirm the information I have given you – most breast lumps (around 80%) are not cancerous.
I know your history on this board Leanne. I am giving you the benefit of the doubt against my better judgement and answering your questions seriously. Please don’t tell me I’m talking rubbish about a condition I have had and about which I have learned a great deal.

OK, gloves off. For the information of anyone new to this forum, this asker has a history of claiming to have different cancers. She has, to my knowledge, claimed in the past 18 months to have had ovarian, uterine and colon cancer, and in each case claimed to be in the last stages and close to death.
Take a look at the answers to the almost identical question she asked a little while after this one to see that I’m not the only board regular who remembers this.
Prepare for claims of terminal breast cancer in around a week’s time
Q: is pain in the breast an indication of breast cancer?
i’m in my 20’s and have been hearing some scary stories about women in their 20’s being diagnosed. i’m aware pain or tenderness in the breasts might probably a premenstrual symptom as well
A: Mild pain or tenderness in the breasts is usually associated with menstruation or pregnancy. Pain does not normally indicate breast cancer, however, there have been some cases where it has. I’m not trying to scare you, but you should always be aware of your body and any changes you find. Usually, painful lumps are known as benign cysts, and generally are nothing to worry about, they will go away. If you discover a lump that moves or is stationary, and there is no pain, please, please, please get it checked by all means. My sister-in-law died 2 years ago after she found a lump in her breast. She had a 3 year battle with cancer and lost. She was only 36. Don’t smoke, keep drinking down to a minimum and live healthy. I am currently getting checked for a lump I found, and I’m a non-smoker, so always be on the safe side. I know it sounds scary, but if you keep up on your health, you can always find things much sooner than if you ignore it and the sooner you catch things, the better your chances of beating it. Don’t get so scared that you don’t go. Getting checked can save your life. While you are fairly young, it’s never too early for breast screening. Take care of yourself.
Q: Just found out my mom has metastatic breast cancer to bone!?
I’m 24 and my moms 44. When she was 22 she was diagnosed with cervical cancer. She was treated and was in remission for several yrs. When I was 15 my mom got pregnant with my little brother. He is now 8. soon after his delivery the dr. told my mom the cancer had come back and spread to her uterus. So that yr. she had a complete hysterectomy. A little over a year later the dr. found a small spot on her bladder. That as well was removed and she was in remission. ^month’s later for her bi-annual checkup she was diagnosed with breast cancer.Staged at 1. she underwent chemo, and was in remission for two yrs. in oct 2008 she had a recurrence and they wanted her to have a mastectomy, but she refused and opted for chemo and radiation instead. As far as i knew she was in remission in dec.2008. Now heres the tricky part I think is where she started not being truthful. In order to “Protect me”She says she was in remission but she continued treatments until may when they did a new clinical trial, called laser knife surgery. And then she said the tumor was completely gone and she would have 1 more round of chemo and she would be done. In june I got married. ( so thankful I got to share that experience with her before it was too late!) Life was SO good for us , like a dream! Until nov. 2009. We found out the cancer had come back during her monthly checkup and it was staged at 3 b at this point. In late dec we found out that it was in her lymph’s. She told me that it wasn’t metastatic. I asked her after i did research on the internet about it, because I had been feeling like she wasn’t being honest. So i believed her. and she continued treatment. In may she told me it was on her breast bone and that they were going to continue treatments, but that it wasn’t serious, but that it was growing rapidly. So we just spent the summer finishing her treatments. About a month ago I asked her if she had been going to her treatments and she told me that she doesn’t go anymore, but never mentioned that she was in remission. I thought it was odd. Last tues. I called her and she said she had been sick this week, and I asked her with what? she said we should talk about it later. So i went to visit her. At home and she told me the Dr. told her the cancer spread to the bone and there would be nothing else they could do. And asked her to get a second opinion and gave her a reference. I’m…………………… devastated to say the least! I feel angry and bitter, Heartbroken, i can’t stop crying and its been nearly a week. Shes been so sick this week she called off work. We are talk in this lady will go to work. Chemo. work again sometime 60 hr work weeks. She wouldn’t take Fla even though she could, and probably would’ve. i’m scared i don’t want my mom to die. I want her here. for my kids, for my brother. People have said to me at least she won’t have to suffer anymore. I don’t want to have to watch her suffer. It’s not fair. She such a strong woman. Watching her poise, courage, and sheer stubbornness gives me hope. I hope to be have the woman she is some day. So with all the background info out of the way, I want to know what can i expect? How long does it take for symptoms to start? and I don’t want to hear threes no way to tell… I need to know something,,, anything. Give me an average time frame on the symptoms,, Please?
A: There’s nothing I can say to ease your suffering right now, I know first hand. My Dad passed from cancer, although not as young as your Mom. That makes it all the harder, and I am so sorry.
The reason people don’t give you some definitive answers is because the rate of progression depends on your Mom, her overall attitude, her diet, how much she sleeps, how much loving support she has around her.
Cancer thrives on stress, whether it’s emotional, environmental or physiologic. The more balanced and stable these factors are in your Mom’s life the slower the progression.
Also, the locations of the cancers matter a lot. When the pancreas is invaded the prognosis is a very short time frame, maybe 3-9 months, again depending on the individual. My Dad lasted a year with pancreatic cancer, but he was unusual.
So, it depends on where the cancer spreads with your Mom and the other factors, so there’s no one here who can really give you an accurate estimate.
My advice would be to stop focusing on the illness and enjoy the time your Mom is healthy enough to get out and create some lasting memories that aren’t about the tragedy of the situation.
Now is the time to celebrate her life, while she’s still here to see how much you love her.
Q: Do any women know anything about or have experience with using wild yam cream for PMS?
I have severe mood swings for about 2 weeks out of my monthly cycle every month. It intereferes with my life and I was curious if any women know about the benefits of using wild yam cream for PMS symptoms. I know many women use it for menopausal symptoms, but the estrogen is good for PMS I’m told as well. The lady at the health food store said to use it every day and it will help with mood swings. I am wondering if there are any increases in breast cancer risk etc with using estrogen? Any information is appreciated! Thank you!
A: Wild Yam Cream does nothing.
You want natural Progesterone, which is what yam cream is claiming to be. Yes, progesterone comes from the yam, but the body cannot use it unles it is converted to USP Progesterone before being put into a cream.
I have been researching progesterone for about 2 years.
Estrogen is what is CAUSING your PMS symptoms. It doesn’t help, as you state in your question. Mood swings are a symptom of excess estrogen. (There are about 30 more, if you’d be interested in seeing where you stand.)
Progesterone WILL help with your PMS. It’s the body’s natural “anti-estrogen”. Balance out the unopposed estrogen with natural progesterone, and you will be feeling much better.
Q: Any women in their early 30s with breast lumps?
I am 32 and have a 3 1/2 year-old son that I breastfed for almost a year before my milk dried up. When he was about 18 months old, I found a small lump (under 1 cm) in my left breast, on the side. I went to my regular doc who felt it and said it felt mobile and superficial to him, but had me do a mammogram and an ultrasound. Both the mammogram and the ultrasound were negative – the ultrasound tech tried for 30 minutes to find edges on the “lump” I felt but eventually said she couldn’t find anything. She advised me not to worry but to go ahead and call a breast surgeon for a biopsy, which my primary care doctor agreed with. I called the breast surgeon and was told that because I have an IUD, and (at the time) was less than 2 years from giving birth, it was almost certain my breasts had undergone fibrous changes during pregnancy and there was no need for a biopsy. I do have cyclic pain and tenderness that is worse in that breast (and concentrates around the lump) each month.
I have no family history of breast cancer but I do have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and I have fibrocystic breasts. The lump hasn’t changed at all since I had the mammogram and ultrasound but that breast just feels different, it’s hard to describe. There’s soreness deep in the breast that I don’t have on the other side.
Has anyone else gone through this? Should I push to have another mammogram/ultrasound and also a biopsy? My primary care doctor is willing to give the referral but said my insurance may not pay for it since I am still under 35 and I haven’t had any change in the size of the lump or my symptoms.
A: You wouldn’t know if it’s changed or grown that can only be determined by imaging. A surgeon is not needed for a breast biopsy usually a radiologist does it. Yes you should push for another mammogram and ultrasound. If you doctor felt you needed a biopsy then he should have seen to it that it was done and this recommendation comes from the radiologist. Make sure they have your last exams to compare with the new ones you have. This helps immensely with a quicker and more accurate diagnosis.
Q: Could I ask my doctor to do a scan for cancer even though I have no symptoms?
A little bit of background info, I’m a twenty yr old woman living in Australia. My Mum passed on from breast cancer which spread through her body three years ago. Since then I’ve been paranoid about cancer, to the point that I almost convince myself I have it and I start to feel physically sick.
Is there a way that I could ask the doctor to do a scan just to check, or would that waste time/resources? I’m only asking because it would put my mind at ease an incredible amount.
Also, if yes, would medicare cover it?
Thanks in advance!
A: I cannot comment on whether you can get screening paid for in Australia (I’m in US) but regarding screening, there is no single test that can evaluate you for all types of cancer etc. but clearly your risk is greatest for breast cancer based on your family hx.
Depending on your mothers age and the nature of her cancer, it is perfectly reasonable for you to seek screening. Of course, this starts with a thorough self breast exam. Getting a mammogram at your age in the US is not too easy, but can be done to look for suspicious lesions. Genetic screening can also be done with a simple blood test looking for BRCA1 & BRCA2 mutations. These genetic tests may indicate a higher risk and thus convince you to be aggressive with surveillance, however they are not simply a positive/negative test for cancer itself.
You should discuss options with your doctor.
Q: I am 32 years old woman. Since last few days i m having pain in my chest and breas. I feel lumps in my breast’?
s corners. Can this pain be a symptom of the breast cancer. I am worried please guide
A: Pain in breast with a lump shows an infection
It could be an abscess in developing stage
my suggestion is go to some surgeon immediately
Q: Do I possible Have Breast Cancer?
Okay Well this is a tad wierd posting this on yahoo but whatever its life right? Im 20 will be 21 next month. I just did a self exam last night in bed, ive never really done a thorough one before. I do feel hardness in my breasts and lumps i dont know how to explain it unless every woman has some kind of textured breast. This is so hard to explain, i dont feel any lumps at the surface but i feel them the more pressure i apply to my breasts, its on both breasts and it feels like its segmented if that makes any sense at all. I do have an appointment with my doctor in a couple of weeks and i will ask her then but i am scaring the crap out of myself right now. no fluids or blood coming out of them as it said that, that would possibly be a symptom. i just want someone to tell me im wrong and im going to be okay.
A: At your age the chances of breast cancer are close to nil. The chances of breast cancer developing in both breasts simultaneously are even smaller than that.
Breast cancer is almost unheard of in under 25s and fewer than 0.1% of all those diagnosed are under 30. Only 5% are under 40 and most (80%) are over 50.
Most breast lumps, even in women over 50, aren’t cancerous, and many women have naturally lumpy breasts. The fact that what you describe is occuring in both breasts makes it even less likely that this is anything sinister.
So please stop being scared. When you see your doctor she will be able to reassure you that you are fine.
Q: cervix cancer symptom?
i know having numerous partners can increase the chance. i know pap smear can help detecting the cervix cancer. does it have some pain associated when something is going on inside though? i hear some people end up removing uturus. i know if someone who’s too late can die.
is it true if a woman never gets pregnant in her life, will there be more chance of breast cancer etc.?
i feel a bit of pain yet havent had dr visitation, no insurance right now. probably a grand.
maybe it’s a saving if i tried finding if im ok.
someday i plan to visit a dr but not for now. just worrying alone.
anyone had a cancer? std?
A: There is usually no pain in the beginning stages of cervical cancer
and no, not having kids will not increase your chances of breast cancer
You may want to look into free health care or free health clinics, don’t neglect your body especially if you are worried about such things
Q: Women: Did you know (PLEASE READ)???
Did you know that there is a new type of breast cancer that is called Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC)?? This is a type of breast cancer that’s found without a lump, but the most classic symptoms are: rapid increase in breast size, reddness, skin hot to the touch, persistant itching, and thickening of breast tissue. If you have any of these symptoms PLEASE visit your doctor immediately! Most physicians have never had a patient with this type of cancer, but I was just e-mailed a video clip about 5 women who had it and were told that it was probably a mosquito bite. One girl was 16 and had it and she died. She was too embarrassed to tell her mom that her breast looked “funny”. If any of you would like to see that clip, please let me know and I will e-mail it to you. Women everywhere need to be alerted to this info.
Anyone know anything else about this cancer?
This is very serious. Most cancer centers have never even heard of it.
A: very important info!
repost this question again sometime later, just in case some didn’t see it.
Q: Women please take a look with this question and answer?
have been married for the last 7 months. Now there is a problem with my nipple. It started last month. It is too sensitive and when touched, i feel a pain and irritation. It is not strong pain. But still its there.Plus the nipple is large i mean its like its erect all the time. There is no pain anywhere in the breast though. It is just on this area and its even irritationg when touched. What is wrong with me???? i am not using any birth control pills and exactly nothing to control concieving.its not in just one breast. It is on both of them.
well i tried the inflammatory breast cancer,i dont have any other symptoms and there is no discharge.Itsnot unbearable pain anyway. The nipple is too hard and is irritable.
A: why cancer… can be something else – some kind of allergy or a specific nipple problem only a specialist knows how to deal with. u know, the cause may be even ur bra! but let’s not guess – just go, get a professional opinion.
